ASK VICKIE

Hello, folks. I hope you are here because you are sincerely interested in learning more. This page is being set up with the intention of aiding those that are in, or feel they might be, the transgendered community or those that have questions and want to understand more about people different from themselves. I hope the page helps both groups. I am using the format of answering emailed questions, so feel free to email me if you have a question. Also I will have found that there are some movies that deal with the transgendered issue to some extent. I shall also review some of those, telling you my opinion on how well they did of addressing it or making a statement in any case.  

Please be aware of the fact that I know I am not "the expert".  Anna, a friend of mine took issue with some of my definitions of the various parts of the community as you will see on page number 1 of the letters.  I printed her statements.  I may not agree with all of what she said but I think she has a valid point.  In discussion, I became aware that I have probably confused "drag queens" with "doing drag" .  Anyone can do drag, but one view is that only gay men (often referred to in that culture as "queens") would correctly be labeled "drag queens".  In any case, other views have validity and if you disagree with me, express that.  If you like I will even publish it--as another viewpoint.  The only thing I ask is that you do as Anna did and do so in a very respectful tone.  Thank you.

This section may be quite lengthy. Some pages may have three or four letters while others have only one. This will depend upon how in depth I feel I need to get. I will put a description of each page I put up in this section here.
